I started training with Justin while working for an ambulance company and continued training until receiving an offer from the Fire Department. Everything was tailored to mimic on the job movements with an emphasis on mobility and flexibility which definitely helped me avoid injury throughout the Academy. I started training with Justin back in 2019 in order to prepare for a fire academy. Justin from the start was focused on my individual goals and making the program work for my level. He started out by assessing where I was, He found where my weakness and my strengths were. He helped me take those weaknesses and turn them into strengths. This took me from being imbalanced to being more balanced. Being not so flexible to being more flexible. All these made me more well-rounded. Being more well-rounded helped me be better prepared for the riggers of the fire academy I was preparing for. While in the academy, I saw the benefits of the program. My flexibility, strength, cardiovascular, and mental abilities all were at a level far above what I needed during the academy. Being at such a high level helped me stay healthy and recover faster during the academy. Now after the academy, I am in the station and still continue the program to keep me in the best health to provide the community I serve. This was and is the result of Justin's dedication to the program and my wellbeing.
Training with Justin significantly helped prepared me for my Fire Academy. I was concerned about my upper body strength prior to starting my academy and was able to work with Justin to build up my strength in this area of weakness. I noticed a great improvement in my strength and overall endurance which helped me get through the academy!
Fitness in my life has always been more of a cardio based approach outdoors. I always felt a bit uncomfortable in the gym setting because I didn't understand how to properly use most of the machines. And that kept me out of the gym. When I had the opportunity to train with Justin, he would always show me the correct way to do the workouts. Through pre mapped out workout plans that Justin personally created for me I was able to gain a tremendous amount of strength and even overcome a shoulder injury. Three years ago, I began to work with Justin. Since then, my job performance, strength and endurance have all improved dramatically. Justin has set up a unique and well-thought-out program to help fire department candidates become ready and successful in the academy. By establishing a baseline, we can easily track changes in our physical ability, which motivates and makes seeing progress easier. Unique tailoring. Justin will tailor the overall program, or the individual exercises on the fly, depending on your abilities, needs, or weaknesses. Goal setting. Explaining what other successful candidates were able to achieve is a huge confidence booster once you hit those same goals, knowing your likelihood of success is growing.
The training and recovery programs, as provided to me by Justin Reading, have benefited me tremendously in my fire academy.
